Trains in Victoria
TrainGaze shows the trains of Victoria on a live map, with timetables and delays, from the Department of Transport and Planning's open data: the GPS position of each Metro Trains Melbourne and V/Line service, the timetable, and the delay at each stop.
What you can see
- Live map. Each train is placed by its own GPS fix from the Department of Transport and Planning's realtime feeds: the Melbourne suburban network and the V/Line regional lines to Geelong, Ballarat, Bendigo, Seymour and Traralgon.
- Timetables. A departure and arrival board for each station and halt, with the live delay next to each scheduled time, and the full calling pattern of every train.
- Delays. Punctuality by carrier, by station and by train, scored from the reports TrainGaze records every day: how often trains run on time, where delay builds up, and which trains carry it.
- Journey planner. Connections between any two stations, from the same timetable the boards use.
The network
TrainGaze draws the track from OpenStreetMap: 267 stations and halts across the state (249 stations and 18 halts). Open a station on the map for the lines through it and the trains calling today.
Major stations include Flinders Street, Southern Cross, Melbourne Central, Richmond, Footscray, Geelong, Ballarat and Bendigo. Times are shown in Melbourne time (Australia/Melbourne), whatever the time zone of your device.
